I'm on a chinese carbon frame.

So far, I'm still alive. And the frame is awesome.

What should i make next, SSCX or roadie?

i feel like id get more use out of a road bike especially since itd be a winter project and probably be done by spring, but cx is awesome.

cx would be built around an on one pompino

roadie im kinda clueless about but im pretty sure i dont want crabon, less than $1k for a complete

Suggestions on the road front would be great since i dont know my ass from my elbow

go to a shops and look around.

Mumonkan 12-03-12 03:50 PM

i definitely plan to

roadbike useability > cs radness?

yummygooey 12-03-12 03:54 PM

i built my on one because i wanted a fenderped fat tire commuter for my future life in seattle. previously, i was commuting on my TET and GT which weren't ideal from a fenderpability and cost perspective.

but if you have something to fill the commuter role already, i'd def go for a road bike.

infinitely.

Take a look at CAAD8's, theres a couple <$1000, as well as Specialized Allez (or Secteur if that geo is more your taste.)

Radness & SWAG are overrated. ROADBIKE.

DanBell 12-03-12 05:06 PM

Jamis' steel road bike lineup is pretty good value I think. Both Satellite models should be under/around $1000.

Adrian_ 12-03-12 05:33 PM

Ebay! You could probably find something awesome used. Everything on my cdale was used and came from eBay except the wheels and tires. The complete build came out to around $650.

Great point!

...ddeadserious is selling a groupset...
Tiagra is better than what you'll get on anything in that price point. He has wheels too.
Get a frame on eBay/CL.

LesterOfPuppets 12-03-12 06:03 PM

In other Tiagra news, you can get Tiagra shifters + derailers and some non-Tiagra stuff on this bike for $500

Nagrom_ 12-03-12 06:06 PM

Well if those sorts of things are options, you can get ultegra on BD for under a grand.

Mumonkan 12-03-12 07:05 PM

thx for the input guys

i commute a lot on my 722 just because i love the **** out of that thing, but i have an old fuji i put some risers on for crappy weather days and just to switch it up

definitely gonna look for a used frame and building, dont have the kind of income to blow a grand at a time plus i love building

i think the roadie has won, considering theres only one legit cx race in my area a year and not a lot of real estate to get my rad on anyway

lot more road races id have access to as well, wanna get my gran fondo on and get up bear mountain

Sugino Gigas Cog or Dura Ace Cog? Also what tooth size should I get. Ive gone from alot of ones in between a 42-16 to a 52-13. Should I do a bigger one to have more fun or a smaller one to keep up with cars?

not sure if trollin

Kayce 12-03-12 09:13 PM

One of those gearings you offered makes a lot of sense. The other is bigger than gearings used at world cup track events. I will let you figure out which is which.

1koolkat 12-03-12 09:21 PM

The 52 13 wasnt ridiculous to use. I was just wondering if I should keep in mind being able to do skids and stuff really easy with a higher tooth or if I should keep with what I prefer for just riding around. Either way I wouldnt be doing the 52 13 again. I currently have a 44 13.

yummygooey 12-03-12 09:30 PM

post a pic of your quads in comparison to chris hoy's.

Muffin Man 12-03-12 09:32 PM

Do you have guads like Ullrich?

I keep flipping between the road forum and this one and quite can't decide where there are more ridiculous posts :troll:

Reeses 12-03-12 09:43 PM

Just get Dura Ace. You wanna ride a $100+ cog on the street?

FakeFuji 12-03-12 10:29 PM

The more expensive the cog the better sick skids you can do.

ps you really need to gear up, I've been running 57/12 and I have been contacting local machinists to have them make a larger chainring so that I will have to be in a wheelchair by next summer

NateRod 12-03-12 10:40 PM

A Jakartabro just emailed me via pedalroom asking if I would trade my GTB for his VISP.

Should I?

JonSC 12-03-12 10:43 PM

Give him your GTB + 500 cash otherwise it wouldn't be a fair deal.

NateRod 12-03-12 10:56 PM

Sold

I dare you to play along to the last minute and then bail on him.
