New to Fixies; Best bike for me?

Hey guys,

I will be moving to Victoria to attend law school and will likely be living close. I am a road biker and own a CAAD8 and BMC but would like to buy a fixed-gear bike that is priced around 300-400 so that I can lock it up at the law school. (Cheaper the better obviously).

I looked at Bikedirect and was impressed with their prices, but am open to other dealers.

What single speed bike would you folks suggest?

Thanks

Can we change the sticky thread to "Fixed Gear / Single Speed - Start with a Kilo TT!"?

Does the model matter much? I see Bikedirect has numerous TT's.

We recommend the Kilo because of its great value; any model will suffice but the "best" model is the Pro with sealed hubs and Sugino crankset.

Have you looked at the Dawes SST AL? It's also an excellent bike for the money.

I second that. These kinda threads are posted almost 3 times a day. All someone would have to do is scroll down a few threads and see another topic such as this..
