"I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? " Indeed! When I was under 20 I'd do 15-20 miles a day on a 20 inch banana bike converted to BMX with a solo seat & went "Mt. biking" off road all day on a 40lb single speed coaster brake bike.
Now I am just over fifty & I'll take all the gears I can get. I am now old enough to appreciate the technology of deraileurs & shifters. It was cool to have the hottest legs around from riding single speeds when I was under 45 but nothing lasts forever so enjoy it while you can! ;) |

I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear! |
A wild roadie appears! Quick, hide your Vans!

I enjoy riding fixie for the fun of the work out and the thrills of riding around town through intersections and whatnot. Biking around like what some would call an idiot has its thrills and this is the best time to do it. Absolutely will get a roadie for long distance in the future though. Bike4lyfe

a sweet brakeless fixie is only good for having fun. any real rides need gears and brakes

I dunno, I just ride. I don't think about it all that much.

Can we change it to fixed wheel?

Unless someone plans on buying one for me, I don't plan on owning another bike with gears. |
My last 9 bikes have been SSFG, and the last time I bought a bike with gears was 7 years ago. My life is bass ackwards.
|
I rode a bike once...
...ironically. |
This thread just popped my head and I laughed.
|
"20 inch banana bike converted to bmx" could mean a lot of different things
|
Quick! Someone head over to the Road forum to tell them THEY'RE wrong and WE'RE right.
