Schwinn Madison
 

I found this bike on ebay. It's a 2010 Schwinn Madison. Right now its at $340 but would be $400 after shipping.

What is your guy's opinion on this bike? Is it a worth paying $400?

I saw one in Performance Bike a few days ago for like $350. There is a Schwinn Madison superthread around here somewhere, you could probably get some good info in there. I like the way they look and hear good things about them, but I've never ridden one.

They're good bikes. The frames and forks are nice and solid.

If it's in your size and you like the way it looks, get it.

Hope you enjoy it! I was out riding mine last night after work. I never thought I'd like a single speed bike all that much, but for the price I was willing to give it a try. Turns out that it's a fun bike.

Bars look huge, are angled all wrong, and the saddle is dipped too low.

Friend of mine has bullhorns angled way up like that. I tried to call him out on it being a hipster cred thing, but hes the most uncool guy I know, and said it was just comfy for him.

So moral of the story is its weird, but if the rider digs it whatevs man. He's riding a bike when he could likely be in car. Stop hating and appreciate.

P.S. I ride a 2008 Schwinn Madison. I love how it looks op. I like a lot of other things about it. What I don't like is that for the price I feel like I probably could have gotten a lighter bike. I might be wrong. I'm no weight weenie, but lighter is faster and all, right? If you buy it you definitely won't be unhappy with it, so you really shouldn't stress about this if its a first bike kind of situation, but if you know bikes and have one already (and thus the luxury of trying a bunch out) I'd look around more and see what you can find.

My point was that he rocks em angled up because its comfy for him. You looked at a picture of a bike and ragged on it because the bars weren't angled in the proper hipster/bike showroom fashion. Why do you care what the rider does if it works for him?

I'm pretty certain most of the riders I've talked to who care about what's "proper" for a given bar/frame/seatpost position are the folks who ride a few blocks to the local pub and back a few nights a week. The cats who actually ride a bunch of miles to commute everyday ride what works for them and could care less how much street cred they get. I guess I shouldn't stereotype, but again, if the dude rides an awkward angle when he could just as well start his car, why do you care?

P.S. This is getting way off of op's thread. Did you pick up the Maddy jaredpa? I hope my comments weren't misconstrued, because I ******** love mine despite its being on the heavier side for a ss/fg. I ride the heck out of it. It takes me to work, class, kick it with friends, hike, snowshoe, or just cruise around for a few hours.
