I converted my 96 Diamondback Topanga MTB over to Singlespeed recently and love the simplicity of singlespeed over geared for my quick 10 - 12 mile rides around the community MUP.

I'm hoping to build up a singlespeed/fixed gear (flip/flop) in the coming months now that I know I enjoy the simplicity of it. Being a clyde, slowly dropping, what are the posted rider weights for Leader bikes? I like their designs but couldn't find anything online about the limit. Not sure if I would go with a 725 mid, 722 or 721 either. I also know that the main worry is with the wheels on any bike.

Not only is scrod 200lbs, but he rides hard as ****. Unless you're 500lbs, I would hope the frame you chose wouldn't be an issue from any decently built frame. I had a wal mart bike survive 2+ years of abuse.

My road bike is a Specialized Roubaix, carbon. It hasn't exploded killing me and everyone around me. I figured with a Steel or Aluminum bike it should be OK. I'm 270lb and going down. I'm sure with the people that mash the cranks or going flying off curbs, etc that they are putting a lot more jolts to the bike than I ever would.

Now to get my next egg of $700 - $800 to build up my bike.

Scrod, the 2 bikes you put together are pretty much what has inspired me to try the singlespeed conversion first and now to actually build one up.
