YO SCRODLICIOUS

sorta out of topic but,
I've been meaning to order those double strapz/cage combos from RETROGRESSION.COM
HOWEVER, I got my GR-9's and I know its absolutely possible to install the doublez with those extended bolts. Do you think that it matters that much to have the extra length on the bolts? I was just thinkin of throwing them on the underneath notch and just flyin' without care...

@xavier853 - Since we've totally derailled this thread anyways, are you a student at OSU in Columbus Ohio ? Reason I ask is there's a 2 day 210mile round trip tour held every year there around memorial day IIRC called TOSRV that would be great to ride fixed, since its mostly flat with just a few minor rolling hills. I used to do it every year geared when I lived in the midwest, before moving to Texas. The tour has complete sag support so you can ride light.

Columbus you say? Columbus. . . Airplane?

I rode with normal bolts on my gr-9s for around 7 months, it's not a big issue. Occasionally the front strap would get out from under the bolts but it never seemed like it would come completely out from under the pedal. I got longer bolts now ($2 at Sears) and they can't come out. Idk. Not much of a difference but the longer ones give me more peace of mind.

rad. Also cause im a lazy ass right now, what size bolts would those be ?

Idk, I just took the ones I had (and the nuts!) to Sears and found ones that threaded into the nuts and were a couple mm longer.

Angie just put a set of our deluxe double straps on Wellgo RO-25B track pedals - which also only have slots for a single strap - without using longer bolts and they're perfectly fine just looped beneath the pedal.

How are those Wellgo track pedals compared to GR-9s? Good choice for daily riding with normal shoes? (Vans)

I've got a set on my 725 and find them much more comfortable than Sylvans because the cages don't stick up quite as high. Also, the sealed bearings are buttery smooth.

Jaytron 07-19-11 12:45 PM

****. I have no idea what you guys are talking about (why longer bolts are needed). I'm a goddamn FG/SS newb

Scrodzilla 07-19-11 01:38 PM

A lot of people using double straps on pedals only having slots for singles use longer bolts to secure the front strap, like so:

No prob...and just for ****s and grins, here's a fine example of some straps mounted upside down:

I feel like Soma kinda encourages the upside-down mount with their logo placement.

Not that it really matters, since approximately 1 person in the world still adjusts his straps while riding.

That must be me, because I still use slotted cleats on my bikes.

Are we finished yet?

Scrodzilla 07-20-11 07:52 AM

Not until we all have slotted cleats, brakes and bibs.

yummygooey 07-20-11 07:56 AM

And Mash pens.

Scrodzilla 07-20-11 08:08 AM

That goes without saying. I'm using two of them to tap the keys and type this right now.

TejanoTrackie 07-20-11 08:09 AM

and helmets

Scrodzilla 07-20-11 08:14 AM

I find that tapping my keyboard with a helmet results in a lot of typos.
