Who's got a SimpleOne?

I see Riv has layaway these days, I'm tempted.

It's the only way I could get one any time "soon".

Does anyone here have experience with the up-slanted dropouts?

I've always loved that White Industries 2-Cog Freewheel and the four-speed model on the Riv site looks nice. Riv claims no brake pad adjustment when changing between teeth counts.

Anyone?

Up Slants...anyone?

Carlton?

Up slants are simply rear facing dropouts that match the angle of the rear brake caliper, so that the brake blocks don't require adjustment when the wheel axle is moved in the dropouts. Normal track dropouts are horizontal, such that the rim position moves relative to the brake blocks, such that adjustment is required. Forward facing horizontal dropouts are slanted so brake block adjustment is not required.

The Simpleone is definitely on my short list. Glad they finally got the details on in it worked out: first they said canti brake posts, then said it was going to have side pulls, then back to canti, then a red color, then green w/ cream headtube, then just plain green. Either way with the frame costing $1k I won't want to build with cheap parts which will make the whole project cost that much more. I like the two speed crank, but since there is a smaller 32t ring on it, I may want to switch out the 40t to maybe a 42t.

If they would lug-line it or add any details / colors, I'd already have one.

I'm not interested in blending in on [my] Rivendell.

My wife has one -- me.

Oh wait, I thought you said, "simpleton."
