They have a really nice fork. And I've ridden on there road rims for 88 mile ride.

They are legit.

MuppetMower 07-24-11 10:47 AM

The fork is another $140. You would have to pay shipping and customs fees, which could be a lot.

It looks nice. I havent heard anything about their track frames, but I heard their road frames were just generic, noodly, Taiwanese frames. Take that with a grain of salt though.

Edit: they only have smalls.

carleton 07-24-11 11:18 AM

I raced one in 2009. It's OK. Not bad, not great. There are better aluminum bikes out there for probably less.

I'm not sure if it's drilled for brakes. I don't remember it being drilled.

why are you looking for the cheapest carbon track frame?

this

Is this for the track, or for mad street cred?

cc700 07-24-11 05:24 PM

seen a guy race one at the drome.

it's no teschner track pro, but it's not bad.

MUDDY88YJ 07-25-11 08:59 AM

Thanks for the advise. Just looking for a carbon fixed gear for the street.

Kayce 07-25-11 11:07 AM

Like carlton said there is better aluminum out there at that price point. So the real question is why do you want carbon?

PlattsVegas 07-25-11 11:40 AM

the only experience I had with a planet x was when my brother owned a stock trials frame of theirs. I am not even sure if it was made by the same company.

chas58 07-25-11 06:06 PM

Its a nice bike for the track. I found a used one for $850 and almost bought one. It would be quite stiff for the road though - that wouldn't be too much fun.

Not drilled for brakes.

What type of aluminum bike to people think would be better for the $$$?

chas58 07-29-11 01:45 PM

sure, lots of Aluminum bikes are better for the $$$, but no one can name a couple after making that claim?

MuppetMower 07-29-11 02:10 PM

Bianchi Super Pista
Cervelo T1
Felt TK2
He could look into Dolans
He might be able to start looking at Custom frames at that point.

I cant think of too much off the top of my head, but I'm not really familiar with $1000 aluminum track frames, since I havent ridden any.

yummygooey 07-29-11 05:19 PM

Fuji Track Pro.

chas58 07-30-11 09:37 AM

Thanks, but the fuji track pro is not even close to being the same bike as the planet X on the track. The planet X is stiffer and handles better on the track.
$850 for a new frame, or $850 for a pristine built used bike - that is hard to beat.

The Cervelo T1 or Felt TK2 may be better bikes, but at $1600 the aren't exactly in the same league.

Yes, there are better Alu frames out there, but not at that price point. I wouldn't be so quick to write off the planet X.
