I wear this. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...dahl/78945.jpg

Its really just a hardhat, but in light of this "research" it would seem to be safest of everything, a helmet so you have some protection but since it looks like a hat till you're up close they will think you're "bare headed"

ziptie a stuffed bear wearing a denim jacket on top. Then it's badass.

Jandro 08-02-11 03:04 PM

In all seriousness, I think I found your solution.

1) These dudes look pretty urban.
b) They look damn spiffy in their helmets. The hipster in the back is even smiling like he just won a fresh 12-er of PBR for winning that Ally Cat race.

For when you're riding your Cinelli Mash with no fenders around those rainy NY streets. Hella urban.

Kurgan helmet?

Urban enough for rioting? Urban enough for biking.

Verbose 08-02-11 03:17 PM

I do believe that's the carbohydrate equivalent of a beer-helmet.

He knows that Atkins diet is just hype.

I'm waiting for Scrod to drop a photoshopped picture of TT in here with a ridiculous helmet.

Apparently also works great as a blindfold.

What's more urban than riding through a meat-packing district in the concrete jungle? Meat helmets, that's what.

ps. pretty low profile too.
pps. I <3 derailleur-ing threads.

I love how people take stances on the oddest crap. He wants a bmx style helmet instead of a road style helmet, who gives a crap? It's not your head. He's asking for recommendations on a particular style of helmet and even acknowledges it is a style decision, not a ventilation, helmet hair, whatever decision.

Or feel free to troll the thread with a ridiculous helmet image as I'm sure many of you will.
He asked, we delivered.

He wasn't asking for recommendations in his post, merely giving these odd helmets their own thread. Since I don't believe we really need a separate thread for this, I gave it my opinion, then trolled as he permitted us to do so. I understand your point, but I think we're all entitled to our opinions. It's not like we're trying to convince him not to buy x helmet.

HAHAHA Top left and right are my fav. That picture is awesome.

csj0952 08-03-11 11:38 AM

I don't have a prob with the funny images. They're pretty good. And no I wasn't looking for a recommendation but it is nice to hear what people use and how they like or dislike their helmets. Was trying to just start some convo that might be constructive in helping others pick out a helmet. I use a road helmet but I may someday buy one of the ones mentioned above.

I think there's alot of disgruntled hipsters it seems like who didn't get their morning frappachino. In addition, there's alot of wanna be comedians as well.

tashi 08-03-11 11:41 AM

So, anyone tried the Uvex Urban? It looks pretty much perfect for my needs.
