Looking for a classy clipless pedals
 

so i was digging through my garage and found some spd shoes, all i neew now are cleats and pedals, but im going for a classy look on my bike, any suggestions for something affordable?

OK, not trolling here. But, what does "classy" mean? Is that the opposite of sporty?

Shimano A520 spds are "classy" as low profile touring pedals

i guess im looking, something simplistic without all the crazy colors/logos/etc.

Hey, man. Some advice:

Are you making the bike to take photos of it or are you making the bike to ride? The worst thing you can do for yourself is put on some bad pedals that look good in photos.

Who benefits from the photos? Us. Who has to deal with less than ideal pedals every day? You.

Pick the pedals that perform the best for you and your style of riding.

Carleton, those are beautiful, but I think he wants something affordable (unless that's affordable for you, in which case more power to you).

It being made to ride, its my commuter actually, but it doesn't hurt to have a nice looking bike in some photos(especially because i'm constantly riding with evil and some other buddies that are also into photography)

i think i've decided on the Shimano A520 after reading up on them. Plus they are more in my price range compared to those speedplay ones(which are very nice indeed, just $300 aren't something i'd want to possibly beat around on a commuter)

Exustar makes a full range of affordable pedals. I can't comment good or bad on how well they hold up as I have never tried them. But, I've seen a few racers using them. They can be bought via Amazon.com.

No, it doesn't hurt to have nice looking pedals. It may hurt to choose pedals based only on looks. But, hey. It's up to you.

I hate eggbeaters. Worst feeling and performing pedal I've ever used.

I've used them. They are OK. Not great. Really big.

The older ATACs looked better in my opinion. But, worked about the same. These are pretty much impossible to find. 1st gen hipsters bought them all up and trashed them.

The float is springy, not free. The springs keep wanting to return your foot to the center line.

I have the base model eggbeater that I posted and I like them.

I am 115 lbs, I'm in good shape but no track sprinter. Whatever problems Carleton has I may not even be feeling.

My dislike for eggbeaters started before I began racing on the track. It started back in 2006 (I think) when eggbeaters were all the rage around here. I got a pair for cheap and was like, "What the heck. I'll see for myself what everyone is talking about." I didn't like them at all.

Have you ever used any other clipless pedals?

I'd go with the M520's. You already have the shoes to go with them...

Only those cheap Shimano SPDs, and I didn't like those. Maybe that's why.

Moot point. All the pedals we suggest will come with cleats.
