Fork question...

So I'm looking into continuing to build up my conversion Fuji Del Rey until all that's left is a new frame to be bought. Probably a Leader 725, but we'll see. As of right now, my Del Rey has a threaded fork and headset. My question is, can I put a 1 1/8 headset and fork on this frame? I'm a complete n00b when it comes to this stuff but I need some guidance.

I'm looking into carbon fiber forks, since I want the end result of my fixie to be as light as possible, but w/in my budget. I don't wanna spend more than $100 on a fork, but idk where the deals on forks are online. I haven't seen anything on craigslist lately either.

Can you guys give me suggestions on what I should get, and also when? I'm kinda sick of my dropout bars, but don't wanna get bullhorns until I get a threadless stem and headset so I don't have to re-tape my bars every time I wanna swap them. The leader I05 fork looks nice, but can't seem to find one for under $100...

What's left on my "wishlist" are: bullhorn bars, carbon fork, threadless headset, threadless stem, a light seatpost, smaller chainring (running a 52-17 right now. yikes!), crankset, and a hot matte-black frame.

Any advice?

Chances are your threaded fork is a 1" steer tube, so you'd need a 1" threadless fork and 1" threadless headset. Which you won't be able to use a on a bike with 1 1/8".

Dat Nashbar carbon fork.

I'd just save up for another frame.
Unless you having money like that, all the money you putting in your conversion could be going to your new build! That's how I look at it.

Stuff that's interchangeable is cool though if it'll fit on your new frame.

Right, but can I put a 1 1/8 headset on my current frame?

No.

"Right, but can I put a 1 1/8 headset on my current frame? "

No you cannot. You can buy a threadless 1 inch headset and a threadless 1 inch carbon fork which should be a lot easier to find than a threaded carbon fork.

Forgive me but I'm a little confused. Are you shopping for parts for the Fuji that you will eventually put on the Leader?

Yes. Or am I approaching this the wrong way? Should I just get the frame first, then collect parts for cheap as I find the bargains, then throw em all together? Since obviously I can't get the fork, headset and stem that would transfer from my Fuj to the Leader...

You should get the frame, save a little more money and buy good parts.
