Hounder on it's way...

Just picked up a Nashbar Hounder on sale for $199 shipped! My first SS. Have some bullhorns and tape on their way as well. Putting my old Allez's white Spec Rival saddle on. Should be a fun whip around the town bike.

Any thoughts on this bike? Anyone know if is runs big/small with regards to size compared to specialized road bikes? I have a 54 Allez, but I choose a 52 hounder based on the numbers. I will be putting my 120 mm stem on the hounder if necessary.

Give us a review when you get it. I've never seen anybody say anything about it here and I don't think I've ever seen one.

Actually.... Here is a past post about it.

That is where I looked and saw the good word, but there wasn't much about it recently, so I decided to ask again. I really like the plain look, with the black and white combo.

Got the Hounder partially assembled. My bullhorns are a little thicker than the brake clamps, so I have to figure that out before they go on and the white bar tape goes on. I cannibalized from my parts bin - original parts from my Allez - seat post, saddle. Got horns from Origin-8 on amazon.
Not bad for $230 out of pocket.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I am going to fit the bike once I get the brake levers settled and there isn't a hurricane about to smack my door. The saddle will get all set up then.

Hounder is finished. Took it for a spin today and it rides great!

Yank the reflectors and it'll look pretty ok. I may grab one for the wife...

@yos9...
any chance you could post a close-up of the chainring/crankarm?
i want to see how that thing is made, is it bmx style 3-piece crank?

Awesome.

I did this exact same thing last year. I still ride my hounder but with drop bars and different brake levers. I haven't really had any problems so far.

I changed the brakes, and I had to widen the hole in the back of the fork. Other than that, I haven't done much to it. It's basically my "extra" bike that I ride in the rain and stuff like that. No problems.
