when i convert my bike to ss, will the gear ratio i typically use not feel the same??
as the title states, i am converting my bike to ss tomorrow, and for the time being using the 6 speed rear wheel that i already have. typically i rode on the 2nd to lowest gear, 16t rear if i counted correctly. now when i remove the rear derailleur and shorten the chain will this ratio feel entirely different? i only ask because i have a hunch it will, and that setting conveniently keeps the chain perfectly straight on the 2nd to lowest gear.
shine some light on the situation. thanks!

Nope
Assuming you use the exact same sized chain ring and cog as previously did.

Well, if your chainline is off it will feel like crap because it will be grinding and popping. But I'm not sure if that's what you're asking. In any case, you should read this to get a better understanding of what's going on with your bike:

^nope, luckily the gear im using lines up perfectly straight with the crankset. why i was hoping the ratio wouldnt have to be changed to avoid that problem
yea im not changing anything on the bike from when it was multi speed. just doing the easy/ghetto single speed conv. with the 6 speed cassette still on the rear wheel. just ditching the derailleur and shortening the chain. but GREAT news to hear works conveniently for the conversion
thanks. cant wait
