that leather saddle looks perfect on there. Love that retro flavor with the entire build az_andrew, matches the graphics Cinelli was going for too

sheepdog84 02-24-13 01:44 AM

my 2 cents would be to check out the polished silver version of the tb14 if you aren't set on the archetypes.

http://www.retro-gression.com/product/h-son-tb14-rim

afaik, the logos don't come off on the archetypes, so the tb14's could be a good alternative to both.

cheaper than open pros too.

either way, it sounds like you'll have a nice build on your hands :thumb:

The logos come off very easily with nail polish remover.

I just finished my first build.....

So I have been working on this now for about six months and just finished it up yesterday with the help of my LBS, Bull Run Bikes. I have never built my own bike before but thought that it would be a good time to give it a shot! We lost three family members last year in eight months and this bike was built as a tribute to my grandfather who was a through and through Boston Irishman. Right down to the tattoo of a pig peeing into a beer mug on his calf which was done in the 40's by hand. Hopefully we don't end up in the jackass post! Crapy phone pics for now because the weather has been crapy!

If you like it I guess that's all that matters.

Well I think you did a fantastic job. That is the most interesting, original, and well thought out build I have seen in some time.

Thank you very much! I had a great time putting it together.

I'll second that, well done. It's not my style nor is it a set of colours I'd choose, but they're balanced and the whole thing looks well done. :p

Now that you've built one bike, you're on a slippery road to hell, it's more addictive than most stuff that's illegal.

Thank you Sir! I am we'll aware of the slippery slope! Told my wife I was thinking about building a bike for my 8 year old, she shook her head and said "for Christ sakes why can't you just buy one from the store already built". I just smiled and went about my business.

I met a frame builder that makes frames and wheels for his little kid. super cool

Guys, i wonder with the vigorelli beteen 2008-2013 do they have any difference in tubing / geometry?
Or only the color scheme variations?

GazzettaBelNero 04-18-13 10:04 PM

Well, I dropped off all my parts today at the shop and unfortunately couldn't stick around for the build, due to work. They ended up tweeting out a photo, so it's a crappy phone pic that I later instagrammed, but I'll post it anyways.

Haven't even seen it in person yet. Probably going to wrap only the drops in a leather tape that matches the saddle. Also going to put a Chris King on it shortly, but the VO will do for now.

I'll pick up some cages this weekend. I've always rode single speed. I rode the track once this year with my dad, on a rental, with clip in's...I hated it. I assume I hated it because it was my first time, I don't know what the gear ratio was, I was hungover and didn't wanna be there. All I can say is...I really, really hope it's not as bunk as that experience made it seem. It's a flip/flop so there's a freewheel to keep me going (or allow me to stop I guess) until I figure it out.

Jandro 04-29-13 11:17 AM

Fit dialed in. I could maybe drop the nose of the saddle down a bit (1*) on track days.

i've tried all sorts of compact drops from FSA to Deda to 3Tand i'm ridding myself of everything but the FSA. too good!

Jandro 04-29-13 12:34 PM

The FSA and 3T ergonovas are my go-to bars for just about all my bikes.

Except my Cervelo, that gets Zipp Vuka Sprints. So aero.

This is my exact cockpit component-wise on my cross bike.

sheepdog84 04-29-13 07:17 PM

that topo tape looks right at home... nicely done.

does anyone know the distinction between vigorosa and vigorelli?

I'm going to assume they're one in the same. meh.

seau grateau 04-29-13 08:07 PM

Rosa = pink
Vigorosa = pink Vigorelli

lan61t 04-29-13 08:47 PM

Any difference with the tubing or geometry or anything else beside the paint job?
