Help figuring out type of bike I have.
 

Okay, so one of my army buddies recently got deployed overseas and was getting ridding of some stuff. He handed down this bike to me and told me to either fix or sell it. I've gotten mixed responses from friends as to what kind of bike it is and what it is worth. I'm hoping you guys could give me a hand.

Is there a serial anywhere on the BB you can find? To my untrained eyes, I'd say almost nothing on that bike is original and it may have had a later day (good, not rattle can) paint job. It was probably a 10 speed guessing by the braze on for the down tube shifters... I like the look but apparently I'm a sucker for hipster bikes.

That's why I had a hard time researching online. Nothing is original. The frame is a J830261

Carefully sand away the flat black paint around where a logo would be. Looks like it was just rattlecanned with no prep work so should come right off. Looks like a somewhat high quality late 80's/early 90's lugged steel frame. Also, take a picture of the rear dropouts.

Hey, thanks so much for your help. I'm not a bike rider, but I've recently taken an interest in since running marathons has started to take a toll on me. i'm very uneducated on biking in general, so any help is greatly appreciated. Here are some shots of the frame. As you can you, the frame was stripped naked and rebuilt. it's incredibly light. The logo was removed and all that is visible is the serial number at the bottom of the frame.
