Should I get this and convert?
Hi I want to get my little brother a bike so I was wondering if it's possible to get this bike and convert it to a road-style bike? He is 5'
http://sacramento.craigslist.org/bik/2614001277.html I already have a spare set of 700c wheels, stem, and handlebar. I don't have a lot of money to spend so...:o Any nice helpful information would help out. |
First of all, 700c wheels aren't going to fit on that bike.
|
Oh damn..I guess this is out of the picture.
Thanks |
As scrodzila said, 700c wheels won't fit in that frame. From my own experience, if by some miracle of huge clearances, 700c wheels on a frame that wasn't designed for it will make the handling really weird and twitchy.

"The bike shop estimated $80 for two new tires, two new inner tubes and labor. Selling Bike for Very Low Price as Is! I don't want to deal with fixing it."
WAT You can stick with the wheels that are on there and get a fairly narrow 26" tire. Tires and tubes will be way cheaper than $80. |

...wouldn't bother with that.
Don't let the spare parts burn holes in your sensibilities. Wait it out for a more reasonable frame. |
you want to get your little brother a bike, or a "sweet fixie?" you don't need to convert that bike to anything. it's already a bike...
