Not a huge fan of flatbars, but looks clean so far.

Scrodzilla 11-18-11 03:27 PM

So wait...you had a whole bike, then you took the wheels off and hung it on the wall, now you're down to just the frame?

Good job!

striknein 11-18-11 10:54 PM

Also, every time you lock up other cyclists are going to think someone died there.

krustyone 11-18-11 10:58 PM

"GHOST"
Cool!

cruiserhead 11-18-11 11:24 PM

Looks great, love how clean it looks with nothing on the bars. What kind of endcaps are those?

stryper 11-19-11 12:26 AM

Yeah, ghost bike isn't cool. Needs at least one other thing of color besides the cranks, tires would be a good one. White tires = lame

they probably come with the bars. pretty sure those are origin8 stash bars.

INOX NYC 11-19-11 01:24 AM

Sorry, the pics reversed, showed up backwards and yeah, Origin-8 Stash bars. I'm gonna put some green graphics on the frame to tone down the white a little. And maybe a little airbrush.

Don't worry, they don't stay white for long. Soon they're kind of greyish. It happens even quicker if you skid...

Probably gonna swap out different colors on the wheels. I get bored. I know once I put it on the road I'm not gonna want to ride the Raliegh anymore.

LesterOfPuppets 11-19-11 03:52 AM

Totally need red tires with the green cranks for Christmastime!!!!

the bike looks awesome as is, thanks for the info about the bars

Sekigahara 11-19-11 01:04 PM

I dig it. I probably would have chosen a matte grey or silver crankset, that way the tires slowly transition from white to grey as they're used, and ends up matching the crankset.

I had a bit of a shaky start. We built bikes as kids but that was in the 70s and I never did a bottom bracket and the headset was totally different from what I remembered. I got some help on these forums (thanks Scrod) and from my lbs and after that the rest all came back to me. I'm also having trouble finding a brake lever that I like that fits. The stash bar is 25.4mm from end to end. Gonna go fixie and no brakes for a while and photogragh it with a few NYC landmarks then flip it to freewheel and add the brake. I call it "Whiteboy"

cruiserhead 11-19-11 11:40 PM

You know I really like the Dia Compe double shot brake lever but it only comes in 25.4, so I have the opposite problem! A white one would look pretty cool on yours (it's centered so I think it helps w/ the clean look).

I looked at those and really like them but I'm having trouble finding them in white. No one seems to have them in stock.

Just curious, why no grips? Couldn't imagine that being comfortable, or safe, especially when wet.

It may be a problem, I know. I'm gonna try to work it out with some comfy gloves but if that doesn't work I'll look into some grips or tape. First ride is still at least a week or two away so I guess I'll find out then. Not planning on riding it in bad weather, I got a knock around for that.
