Looks classy. Nice buy.

Looks awesome! I'd ride that! Get some pics outdoors leaning against a wall, the background is too busy to make out a lot of details.,,,,BD

I know, apologies on the clutter, that is my work area. As soon as I get the stem set I'll get it outside!

You mean you have living room furniture then? I am sitting at a table in my "living room" with six bikes to my left, and that many or more behind me.;),,,,BD

OK, what don't you like? This was my first conversion, in progress, and it's been fun but almost everyone finds something,

the most obvious thing that pops out at me is the color scheme. wayyy to bright and flashy.

and that saddle is way too far forward

Bikedued 11-25-11 11:27 PM

The clamp is turned backwards, that's why it looks too far forward.,,,,BD

I was going for bright and flashy, so I guess I pulled that off.
My only excuse on the seat is that the bike is too big and that worked...

Looks great, super busy background again though, hehe. I do have one more question about your fitting? Are your toes pointed like you're walking on tip toes, at the bottom of the pedal stroke? If so, then you need to lower your saddle drastically.,,,,BD

Thanks! I was a bit too chill to get a pic by the garage, I has dressed for 40's but it never got out of the mid 30's and windy.

I know that is what it looks like but it is right, bottom of the stroke knee bent about 15*.

Bikedued 11-27-11 03:28 PM

Measure either side, crank arm down and at the same angle as the seat tube.. From the center of the pedal bearings, up to the top of the saddle? tell me what you get. You can have your knee bent, and still be pointing your toes. At the bottom of the pedal stroke, your shoe should almost be level, with the heel only slightly elevated.,,,,BD

Unless you're measuring your inseam length wrong? I figured the cranks at 175mm, and the frame is a 58cm, correct? That would leave the top of the saddle about three inches above the top tube, if you truly have a 32 inch inseam? I am guessing you have more like a 36 or better to even reach the pedals with the saddle that high?

That saddle would be borderline too high for me, and I'm 6'1"... I ride a frame two cm's larger than that, and of course the saddle to bar height is a little less extreme.

krustyone 11-27-11 07:40 PM

OK, I get 31" crank to seat and 37" pedal(at bottom of stroke)to seat same as my road bike then I measured from the ground to my crotch and got 32". Agreed it doesn't make sense but my foot is flat when I pedal. My road bike is a 56 and the Masi is a 58, I am 6'2". I had the road bike fit at the LBS.

You should tell her to sell the TV.

But yeah, the Masi does look classy man. I would instantly flip that rear wheel, make it an SS, not FG. But good find.

Someday, it took me 5 years to get her to let me get rid of satellite and she got her first bike this year so there may be hope!

Thanks! That is funny because it came SS and the first thing I did was flip to FG...

Hahah, good... one step at a time.

That is funny, to each their own I suppose.
