You should be OK with chainring clearance. However, the issue some people have with Campy Pista cranks is the low Q-factor often makes the crank arms hit the chainstays on certain frames.
You're probably the first person in history to ever put Campy cranks on a Pake, so you'll most likely just need to try it and see if it works. It fit just fine. No problems with chainring nor the cranks in terms of frame clearance. All you probably need to do is center your chainring. Google it.

Interesting choices.
Seems like the frame is the least expensive major part of your bike by a good margin. Your seatpost and stem together are probably more expensive. Would venture that might be the thing that's preventing you from getting the feel you want as you can basically rule out anything else at this point. Starting with a straight gauge steel frame rather than something of higher quality steel is going to limit how good the thing is going to feel ultimately. Also you don't mention tire diameter or type but that's probably the biggest factor of how a bike feels. Things like high end cranks, bottom bracket, headset, seat post, stem etc aren't really going to feel much different (I also have a Record Pista Crankset, it's beautiful but can't say I can tell the difference from a feel standpoint) Frame materials, wheel weight and type and tires are going to effect the subjective ride much more. If you had Deep Vs or similar heavy, stiff rims I'd blame those but seems like you've got that covered. I've got a Rush frame I picked up used for less than the cost of a Rum Runner and the road feel of my bike is great and I lack about $500 of the Phil/Chris King stuff you have... I would say a Rush would be the next logical step up, particularly if all your high end components would fit. Keep an eye out for a used one. They've been making them for quite a few years so they pop up sometimes...

My biggest beef honestly is the chain tension inconsistencies. It's not terrible, but I wish it were more smooth. My Sugino messanger is awesome in THIS regard compared to this campy set. I am not looking to make a change based only on this, but it still bothers me a little. I am also a little OCD about this type of thing. |

Hi guys, quick question.
I want a frame that has some space between the top tube and the down tube. The one that doesnt attach at the head tube. Can someone show me a comparison between a 51cm and a 53cm pake track frame? thanks. btw my hight is 174cm(about 5'8) and inseam of 80cm(about 32inches). Do you think ill be stretched out in the 53cm frame?? |
3 Attachment(s)
Bump. Removed the second water bottle cage from the seat tube of my khaki Soma Rush and moved the downtube cage down lower so a tall water bottle will fit.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?...TQ&usp=sharing Beautiful color coordination. Well I mean chrome on chrome on chrome. Great choice of bars too. What saddle are you putting on? Have you weighed it? |
Thanks ufbeans, I have a Selle Italia flite saddle in black leather I have yet to put on. I have not weighed it assembled since I have yet to finish. It will be about 17 1/2 to 18 when it's done as I already weighed all the components individually, including the frame and fork and totaled them up.
