Handle Bar Help?
 

Hey, all.

I am looking to purchase some new drop bars for my 74 Raleigh Grand Prix. I really love the look and feel of the Ergo drop bars (with the flat spot.) The only problem is, because my bike is from 1974, the stem doesn't allow for a handlebar setup with a flare in the middle.

I'm thinking the stem clamp is somewhere around 25mm, I'd give an exact measurement, but the bike is still at the powder-coating shop.

Does anyone know of a brand/where to buy ergo drop bars that will fit in a vintage stem? They don't have to be Easton or anything. Any links or tips would be much appreciated.

You probably have a 25.4mm stem. It's possible that it's 26.0, but it's most likely not. 25.4 is a fairly standard size and you shouldn't have too much trouble finding drops.

Check out Deda Elementi Piegas. I'm probably gonna get some of those soon. They come in 26mm clamp which you can use with a 26mm quill stem on a bike with a threaded headset. Finding bars for a 26mm clamp is hard enough sometimes so if you have a 25.4 clamp I highly recommend switching.

I don't know about specific bars and their sizes, but I'd buy bars from any of the following (and this is obviously not a complete list):

Deda
ITM
FSA
Nitto
Ritchey

Ooo! thank you TT. Those look just like the 3t's I got on my road bike build. And a nice price, might buy them for my track bike

if you like the flatness of the drops, you might want to consider classic shallow or deep drops. Those are easier to find in 25.4 and 26.0. shallows are especially good in the drops.
