Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Those pedals are Cinelli M71's, which were the very first clipless pedals that were introduced even before Look made them really popular. They were the very first clipless pedals that I used on the track, and I still have two sets of them sitting in my parts bin.

I second the question regarding the "tape" around the wheels

I also wonder: are the rims painted to llook like wood?

Nitpickery: grips could match the saddle better

they started out the same color, either the saddle is used (seasoned with ass juice) or the owner just rides on the tops/flats

rims are laminated beech (aka wood)

Tape was used to help keep the tires from rolling off the rims from what I've read.

Maybe they had just glued the tubular tires. I don't think you could make a clincher type wheel out of wood.

came across this bike last year and thats just what my mind logically came up with and never crossed my mind it was for anything else
iirc when all there were was wooden rims they were all glued, but i could be wrong. i think the clincher came after the tubies
