Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My first thought was a more aero position, almost like a modified pursuit bullhorn. Not sure how accurate that is, but that is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw them.

Those "hooks" remind me of riding on the brake hoods but the handlebars have been tilted down. Back in the old days of downtube shifters, the brake levers were positioned further down the bars.

That will come to no good end. But with bungees you could put as many pizza boxes as you need.

You could easily take one pizza box without bungies, just using your thumbs to hold it in place.

that's what i was thinking. i like the idea of some on like a middleweight (i think ) schwinn. was it called a speedster? sort of like a wolfs in sheeps clothing cruiser.

I do not understand how this was the norm for so long. My hands go numb so fast using that type of grip, yet it seemed to work...

I hated it. The idea was to set up the brake levers so you could get a decent grip on them when in the drops and this is where they wound up.
