Now with DLS in full effect my rides are looking a lot more like this:

Bright and 37 degrees in the morning. Pitch black and 50 on the way home.

If you're in the South, best to have some of these with your biscuits

Having lived here in the South for over 20 years, i have come to appreciate biscuits, especially a fresh made "cathead" biscuit. However, I can trade them for almost any other fresh made bread.

Grits on the other hand, i really, really like. With eggs in the morning or my wife's special shrimp and grits for dinner. Any leftover grits are lightly pan fried with a bit of olive oil, delicious. I recently discovered that our rice cooker will make great grits (on the porridge setting) if you are willing to wait the half hour it takes.

Now i've made myself hungry. I'll just blame you jlafitte. :)

I was born in L.A. but my family moved back here when I was young. First time I ever heard of grits was when we were out for breakfast and the waitress asked whether I wanted hash browns or grits. I thought about it for a sec and asked "how many grits do you get?"

That is funny. Before I ever tried them, someone had told me they were like polenta, so I knew what to expect. The question had come up in relation to this show.

Mumonkan 11-07-15 11:43 AM

that line was all this city boy knew of grits until i took my buddy out in the city for "one last hoorah" before he got married. we found some suuuuuper hipster bar

it was lit entirely with edison bulbs, everything was made of recycled wood, there was spoken word acoustic music being played by a man dressed in all black in the other room, and the menu was written on parchment paper by hand with a fountain pen.

i ordered a beer that tasted precisely like a granny smith apple, he got one that tasted like a habanero pepper filled with a good microbrew exploded in your mouth

we got grits n shrimp and some pomme frites, i liked the grits more than the fries, im now a fan

nice! i just did my first night mtb ride ever a few days ago and to my surprise i loved it, i actually managed to clear some very gnarly technical climbing sections ive been previously unable to even in daylight

hairnet 11-07-15 12:39 PM

When I first started to mtb my friends only rode in the evening/night. I had to learn the hard way  :( It rocks. I've been riding at night since I started to ride bikes and taking it to the trails made the time spent 100x better. The worst is when your lights illuminate a garden spider's web 1/2 a second before plowing into it going downhill.

Mumonkan 11-07-15 12:55 PM

haha, i found this chick in my closet recently, she mustve hitched a ride on me from the trails
