There is also the South Cohutta Loop. This is one of my favorites. The section of the Pinhotti Trail from mile 32 to 38 is one of the nicest places I have ever ridden in my life. Leaving off the climb to the fire tower from mile 20 to 26 would shorten the route and significantly reduce elevation. Keep in mind that the Cohutta Mountains are no joke. You will spend significant time climbing and do 5000 ft elevation without even trying. The gravel is gnarly too. I'm not trying to tell you that you shouldn't do it but there are several posts on the internet about guys who rode there the first time, underestimated the effort, ran out of water, etc., and suffered greatly. There are zero services. You have to bring a filter to make water if you want a refill. 12% grades are common. My suggestion is to study the maps and take a ride up there in the car first. It is worth going by car just to check it out and you will have an idea of what you are getting into. I'd take the drive up with you. Let me know. -Tim- |

Rode the Schuylkill River Trail out to Valley Forge today. Got about 4 minutes of sunlight all day, but super nice ride regardless.

Silver Comet Trail, Georgia.
I did 22 miles westbound at an easy pace and then latched onto to a group and took turns pulling on the way back. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...fdcb85b61d.jpg |
Today I finally got a short bike ride in with a friend. We couldn't go to far or too fast because he has a 24" mountain bike which is a wee bit small for him. We made it 7 miles down the Eureka Waterfront Trail and back to my house. Not too long, not too short, definitely a relieving, leisurely ride.
during the times I stopped I didn't pause Strava because my gloves aren't touchscreen compatible.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f3fadc36dc.jpg Timing is off because I didn't pause wheb I stopped, but that's not a big deal. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6f1c575dc8.jpg Can't put matching black tyres on until I get a fork with enough clearance. A friend of mine did this tunnel and such for a local art project. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7fafa300e9.jpg Grass for dat ayass. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...b6c51cdb79.jpg Friend's baby bike with mine on the bridge. digging the pics Butthash. I'm an HSU alum (2005-2010) and rode fixed, road and MTB all over when I was a student there. I actually have a buddy from HS (San Diego) that still lives in Freshwater/Kneeland that I've been meaning to visit.
Thanks for pics the trip down memory lane. |

Swung by the Rodin Museum on the way home today for the requisite Thinker shot. Didn't realize until just now that I forgot to put my saddle bag on before I went out, so good thing I didn't need it.
