Do those giant holes in ponds freak anyone else out?

jdgesus 04-26-13 08:32 PM

uh, WAT?!

johnnytheboy 04-26-13 08:39 PM

You've never seen those?
lots of small lakes/ponds around here have those.

And they give me nightmares.

Jared. 04-26-13 09:08 PM

I have never seen anything like that before...why? It is very freaky.

johnnytheboy 04-26-13 09:11 PM

Water is constantly draining into them....you can see it.
My guess is it stops flooding/overfilling.

From the comments:
Skateboarders created the term "half pipe" when they made smaller scale structures modeled after such pipes or "full pipes". Skateboarding in mammoth water pipes such as this damn outlet or the Central Arizona Project pipes in Arizona, USA pre-date the use of the term half-pipe. This pipe has been featured in skateboarding magazines since the 70's.

I guess I need to go exploring, I've never seen one of these things in person.

Jaytron 04-27-13 07:20 AM

Those holes are the result of dividing by zero.

stahp dat.

Rode with the LBS this morning to check out the grand opening of a new park the city fixed up that used to be a hideout for homeless people. Of course I had to do a quick ride with my fixed gear on one of the MTB trails since it was so tempting. Haha. Definitely going to get something more practical so I can fully enjoy it. Plus it's down the street from my house which is great.

Rode on the Toronto Islands today. Beautiful. I also came in pretty much dead last in the island sprint that was held there today.
