Do those giant holes in ponds freak anyone else out?

And they give me nightmares.

I have never seen anything like that before...why? It is very freaky.

Water is constantly draining into them....you can see it.
My guess is it stops flooding/overfilling.

Rode with the LBS this morning to check out the grand opening of a new park the city fixed up that used to be a hideout for homeless people. Of course I had to do a quick ride with my fixed gear on one of the MTB trails since it was so tempting. Haha. Definitely going to get something more practical so I can fully enjoy it. Plus it's down the street from my house which is great.
