Handle Bar Woes

alright i like the nitto rb-002 bull horns but they are a little pricey are there any bars that are comparable for a cheaper price or am i going to have to bite the bullet and spend a pretty penny?

FakeFuji 01-17-12 08:27 PM

I really like these

Stezzy 01-17-12 08:34 PM

im not new the the internet but thanks. i was asking here to maybe get someone with experience with some handle bars in person. i can look at pictures all day and jack off to them but it isnt going to tell me anything about the quality.

Scrodzilla 01-17-12 08:36 PM

If you want quality bullhorns with a little bit of drop, just get the RB-002s and be done with it.

I have these. Really comfortable. Might need a short stem to compensate for the longer reach (I have a 70mm stem on a 53cm Kilo frame for reference).

do you have brakes? if so what kind of levers are you using because i read that these bars dont allow bar end levers

Dannihilator 01-17-12 08:47 PM

Probably cross levers.

Not quite Nitto but for 20 clams...

im pretty dang sure those profile airwings do take bar end brake levers. theyre crimped to accomadate the brake housing.
i own them aswell and theyre great. although i dont recommend getting the OS version because its uneven when your riding on the tops.

I use a Tektro cross lever. Works well, as I do 70% of my riding on the tops. Using the horns for leverage when accelerating from a standstill is superb. Wrapped in LizardSkins.

I use these. Cross levers were a pain to get on, but not terrible. I wanted bar-con brakes but it wasn't meant to be due to sizing. Comfy - I'm using honey Brooks wrap.

I just got a set off craigslist for $40 (with a Thompson Elite 90mm stem)..... not the lowest drop but with the 50mm drop and I flipped the stem upside down it's enough.....I too was looking at the 002s

P.S. I should add that I'm running the Dia Compe Shot lever...

Stezzy 01-19-12 04:13 PM

thanks guys for the input. i appreciate it.

Jaytron 01-19-12 04:26 PM

I'm actually looking to get the Profile Air Wing. I think they're about $50 or so. I'd be using them with a cross lever.

nightfly 01-19-12 06:14 PM

The RB002's are the nicest bullhorns I've ever used. I'd say they are worth the money. Or you can buy two sets of crappier ones and be not really satisfied.

+1000. I was so pleased with them on my Soma Rush that I bought a second one for my Wabi Lightning. The stock Wabi horns made my hands sore, but the RB-002s are comfortable on even long rides. The bar shape places your hands in a very natural position.

yummygooey 01-19-12 06:39 PM

Another +1 for RB-002's.

sharmaji 01-19-12 09:57 PM

the nashbars are fine.

Scrodzilla 01-19-12 09:58 PM

But not as fine as RB-002s.
