MOVED: What is the best beer for riding fixed?
While not new to drinking while riding fixed (riding drunk in Chicago is not a crime, btw) I was wondering if there is any consensus on what is the optimal alchoholic beverage for use with fixed gear bikes. Is there a difference between beer that goes well with singlespeed as opposed to fixie? What is you favorite accompanyment to pie? What beer fits best in your messenger bag? I tend to prefer English-style ales, but often end up running a lot of PBR.

although...I was introduced to "Arrogant Bastard" from Rogue this past weekend. Mmm...tasted pretty f-ing good after 20 miles on a pink fixie!

Let me just say that if I see any fixie rider drinking Miller Lite or Bud Lite I will chase them down and toss a used rear derailleur into their front spokes.

PBR is the standard beer of choice. Pitchers rarely hit $6 in these parts.
Huber is wretched. High Life is okay. Berghoff blows, but if you're poor and depressed, you can't go wrong with a $5 sixer of their pale ale.

A REAL fixie rider (purist) would drink lab-grade ethanol, no? None of that unnecessary stuff mixed in.
As for me, I'll take PBR over any other mass-produced beer anyday. PBR also seems to be big in the bike scene. If I'm going to drink anything decent, count me in for a stout or ale. A nice heavy stout gives me the carbs (and an intoxicated sense of power) I need for serious riding.

Though Lucky Lager is excellent (sadly, I can't find it ANYWHERE in LA. Is it still brewed?), recently I've been a major fan of the following beers:
Double Bastard (once a year, they pour out the bottom of the fermenting barrels for arrogant bastard. 20 proof of hoppy ale goodness!)
Reverend Ale - another 10%-er bottle of magic.
Rogue's Shakespeare Stout - It's supposedly the stout world champion. It tastes like chocolate!
Other than beer? Cutty Sark is the bomb for a cold night.

I'm a strongbow dry cider person myself. I need to try my hand at homebrewing again. the last experiment was a complete failure.
