Your fixed-gear conversions...

WV is not flat..
Finished the SS this morning. Rides awesome and I hope the 48-17 is something I can push in some hilly areas.

My first fixed gear build. I got the frameset as seen for free and built it up with what I had around. It rides great and is just a ton of fun

Mid 80's Nishiki Prestige- my main fair weather commuter. It was my father's old bike that almost made the trip to the dump. I rescued it, and it sat for many years as a geared bike- never ridden. I since converted it (saved all original parts- although it needed new bottom bracket and cranks), and ride it more than any other bike I own. It no longer has the behind seat water bottle, and it sports full fenders.

Hi,
This is my 1981 NORCO Magnum.
I just got back into biking 18 months ago, commuting to work on an old Raleigh mountain bike. I noticed all these one speed bikes and from that point on I decided that that was the bike for me. I converted my first single speed back in October and this is my first fixed, two weeks old.
It is a Tange Champion #2 frame on a pair of Mavic tubular rims (1973), Vittoria Rally tires and a Formula rear hub geared 52:17. I have one brake and I wear a helmet. Don't flame me too hard on this, I'm 52 and my wife still wants me around, she always gets her way

[QUOTE=JesusBananas;13940787]Holy giant crankset!
It's a Shimano 600, 52 tooth. I love the look of those big chain rings. My commute is only 4 km, no hills, so spinning it up is not too bad. My next build, a 1973 peugeot PR-10 is going to have a 53 tooth. I'll probably put a 19 on the back to mix it up a bit. I'm going to leave the drops on that one.

Nah, 105 is its own line, above Tiagra, and below Ultegra.
Ultegra was just called 600 before it was called Ultegra. 1998 was the first year.

Got a new frame that warranted me to strip the Surly of it's gears
allowing me to make this specific frame a fixed for the 1st time (the black one was previously fixed before I made it a geared hauler). For fun I just wanted to see what an A-spoked X-check would look like with Big Apples...
but ultimately chose to take the simple approach. It rides soooo smooooth and comfy

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I know a few guys who will only ride conversions and save the track bikes for the track although I have a Kabuki in the works that will be an fg/ss set up for the street.
Have built lots of conversions and like what I have.
1951 CCM, was originally set up as a coaster equipped bike although I only started with the frame.
The coaster wheels went on my Peugeot AO8...
My first fg conversion (2008)... retired after a crash that killed her fork but have found a replacement so she will be back.
Many of my geared bicycles have spent time as SS or fixed while I planned out what I was going to do with them or have been re-geared when other bikes have taken their place or their purpose changed.
