Pure Fix Cycles
 

Has anyone heard of PureFix bikes? A shop near me just started selling them for $399 and I'm considering getting one. Are they any good?

P.S. Do Not recommend BikesDirect since I live in PR and it's an extra $150 for shipping.

My LBS sells them. Has had major problems with the individual PureFix wheelsets that he has sold, and all 3 or 4 of the customers that have bought complete bikes have come back with various problems not caused by user error. I probably wouldn't bother, especially for the price. My LBS is selling the rest of their PureFix cycles and replacing them with SE again.

On a lighter note, any issues that the shop has had with the cycles/wheels, PureFix was happy to remedy the situation. Good customer service should not go unnoticed, it just seems like the quality of their bikes are kind of subpar.

It shouldn't be. My shop ships stuff to PR all the time and it's no more expensive than shipping anywhere else in the US.

Well they do. Anywhere other than the 48 continental states, they charge $150...

My choices for SS/FG bikes here in the island are Retrospec, SE, and PureFix. And Leader but they're out of my budget.

Actually, he's right. If you order a bike and enter the PR zipcode 00604 (just one of many; I picked it randomly) - you have an additional $150 shipping and handling fee. Wow, your options (other than the Leader, of which I know jack squat about) seem to be a choice between ****, **** and ****. I'm sorry mate.

I just got an email from Nashbar with some discounts, I'm considering getting the Hounder for $200. Any thoughts?

Edit: Ordered it. Figured I just want a bike to go to school and run errands with. It won't hurt that much if it gets stolen.

The hounder is great. Bought one for my younger brother. Brakes are extreme crap though.

I just looked up their website (I had never heard of this company). Website looks very legit and it looks like they offer plenty of color ways. The bikes look cool, my only problem is that I'm just seeing risers, which is for some people I guess. Not my thing.

Of which I consider to be a more conscious version of Big Shot. These no-name brands seem to be in plenty of supply for casual shoppers/riders/hipsters.
