Seat post dilema

Quick question.
I want to get a new frame, but the seat post diameter is 31.6 and the seat post that i want (Miche Supertype 27.2x270mm Seatpost in Gold) is 27.2. Is it a terrible idea to put shimes in it and wing it? Any experience?

It will work fine. That is why they make shims.

someone told me i could potentially mess up my whole frame by using shims...?

PluperfectArson 02-15-12 08:54 PM

I have never heard that before.

Shimming a seatpost for a frame is perfectly fine. The post on my dirtjumper is shimmed.

Why would reputable companies like Cane Creek sell something that damages frames?

Because who ever told him that shims wreck a frame doesn't know how to get their head dislodged out of their rear.
