Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Need help, Animal Pedals...

So i just got a new bike and i got some platform pedals i got from a bike shop down the street, these pedals were already on a built fixed gear but they were his last ones so he took them off for me(infront of my eyes) now i get them home and they are going in correctly(thats what she said) but they are not tightening, i turn the right pedal the way its supposed too and it doesent tighten, i turn it the other way and it unscrews so i take my wrench onto the bolt between the pedal and my crank arm(whatever its called sorry) and turn the wrench and it does nothing.

I have the same bike that the pedals were on at the store so i dont think its the crank. Its a Vilano(i know, i know,im poor) basic single speed on their website with black Animal pedals, Do i need a specific pedal wrench? I tried the pedals the bike came with and they worked perfectly, the only difference is the pedals the bike came with seem to have a bigger bolt for wrench to hold onto when tightening than this one, i tried it on both sides/both pedals as well with the same results. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

A pedal wrench is just a slimmer 15mm crescent wrench. What do you mean by doesn't tighten? can you finger tighten it to a certain extent at least?

left side is left hand threaded

left hand threads slope up to the left

as opposed to right hand threads

check that you are putting the pedals on the correct side, otherwise I dont know what we can say without some more info/pictures

Both pedals tighten in the direction the bicycle goes. Edit: Let us know if you get them on, I hope you didn't strip them. Also did you get some re-load straps to go with them? Philly support philly.
