Also, to respond to this. The fact that you CAN change gears is what makes a gear bike more efficient. If you ride a road bike and don't change your gear because you want to loath the fact that it would be so much more efficient on a SS then be my guest.
I'll just change my gear and bathe in the efficiency. Regardless of changing the gear or not, the fact remains that a direct drive-train is more efficient. Moving onto our prior discussion - under the right circumstances, a single speed bicycle can be less tiring than one with gears. Conversely, a road bike (with touring load and over long distances) will certainly be less tiring. |

"Loath the fact"? Are you even reading what you type?

this thread is such a **** show
hope you find a bike that works for you OP I was "attempting" to be helpful and offer another viewpoint, as mine coincides with the OP's. If BMX or SS makes him feel less tired over his commute, it makes him feel less tired. |

Wait a second here. Maybe you aren't as stupid as you sound. So if he were on never changing terrain with a bike geared exactly the same as a road bike that also weighed substantially less it would be more efficient?
NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS. GIVE IT TO THE MAN. Also, you never responded to me about your improper use of the word "loath." What happened with that? Were you attempting to sound intelligent? |
Nagrom,
I'd like to point you in the direction of this PDF : http://www.ihpva.org/HParchive/PDF/hp52-2001.pdf Hopefully you can derive from it that efficiency and performance are two different things. |

Again read : "under the right circumstances." It's also clear that you do not understand the term "efficiency."

Clearly you need to go back to school.

At some point, the OP will hit some kind of terrain, and all of the efficiency of not having gears is lost. |

clearly you need to realize that bikes aren't ridden in vacuums on rollers.

BTW : No hard feelings. I want to be your friend and riding buddy. Can we play tandem bikes?

Totally wanted the back anyways. Fixie tandems are the new rage.
|
Tandem rollerblades FTW.

It's pretty easy and very satisfying. Guy in back holds onto the shoulders or hips of guy in front, and we move in sync.
|
If you are going to commute but want the look of a fixed gear, why not try one of the five speed Kilos or a bike with an S3X?

I wonder if the OP ever found the bike he was looking for...... I actually forgot what the thread was started as :)

You guys are awesome.
Btw so what makes up for the bike the track or the wheelset? |
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking

?? Do you mean to ask the frame or the wheelset?

Yes. I omitted the word frame I'm half asleep but I mean what makes it as fast, what's the main component. I know everyone matters. But what matters the most?

and non-white wheels.
