Thinking about Double wrapping my bars
I have nitto drop bars and they are great for short rides. If i go longer than two hours ill be feeling it in my hands for the rest of the night.
Thinking about double wrapping my bars. Just wondering if there is an unspoken rule against this. Id consider riding gloves but Id lose them. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2373955_o.jpg |
what's the worst that could happen? people on the internet could laugh at you? do what makes riding your bike enjoyable.
|
It's probably because you're not hard enough for track status amount of drop.
Get road bars my friends. That, or HTFU. |
Track drops plus road riding... It just sucks. Extra wraps won't help.
|
If you're doing 2 hour rides on track drops, that's the problem. Get some road drops(with or without hoods) and decent tape and you'll probably be much more comfortable.
Alternatively, you could double wrap your bars. I mean, who wouldn't want bars as thick as red bull cans? |
I hear double-wrapping is not effective, more friction
|
the problem is not more cushion, it's your hand being on one position for 2 hours, you most probably try to grip near the stem but it's not something to do it prolonged. As everyone said, get some road drops preferably with hoods for more hand positions.
|
I prefer gloves.
|
I double wrap my road bike bars. It's not unusual. I wrap below the levers and leave the tops single wrapped (oval shaped on top so I don't feel it's needed there).
It is more comfortable for long rides and the thicker diameter helps with leverage and grip comfort. Try it out, I think you will like it. |
i just ride no-handed.
|
Nobody will laugh at you. You already wrapped it up to the stem and put a big wad of electrical tape on the ends, how could doing it twice be any worse?
You've got to determine if Tarck Status is more important than constant hand pain. |
problem is too much weight on your hands. try moving the seat back a bit to take the weight off your hands
|
You have the wrong handlebar setup. Sell them and get some road drops, bull horns, or risers.
|
try cutting a used inner tube in half and wrapping it under the bar tape
