57cm kilo has 57.5cm top tube. If your 60cm gitane with 59cm TT fits you very well now I wouldn't have gone with anything smaller than the 57cm kilo tbh.

No, my first mistake was releasing any albums after 1992's "The Chronic". The hologram technology was awesome. 1 step closer to Star Wars.

(Also, the reason that I chose Dr.Dre was because it was the first thing that came to mind when bikeforums asked me to choose a user name, and when I typed Dr.Dre and it was available, I was so ecstatic that it didn't even cross my mind to come up with a more fitting name.)

So, what I have gathered from all of this, is that preference alone dictates the size frame you get.

The frame came today, it fits just the way I like it. I am not planning on doing track racing (obviously), and I therefore had no intention of going with drops. I am just going with a straight across, or maybe a pursuit handlebar.

Like Scrod said, the Kilo was measured from the center. Before I got back on here, when I physically measured it, I was like, "Sheeeeeei........ Way bigger than I thought". However, I compared it to my Gitane and the Kilo is a little shorter with roughly the same seat tube measurement, just with a more agressive geometry. Awesome. So, before I packed it up and said screw it, I put the wheels on (gingerly) and was able to stand flat footed no problem with a little clearance. I have very long legs.

Lesson learned. In the future I will be probably go with a 55 or 56 to have some more seatpost showing, but in this case, I lucked out.

Thank you everybody.

Awesome that it worked out fine in the end.

I'm 6' ..or may be 5'11.5"... it does't matter anymore - the story came to the end...

I really hope this is not what you learned, lol.

Except for the fact that it hasn't.

It was not all that I learned, just some people prefer a much smaller frame. I do not.

Scrod- How has this not worked out, or are you just trollin'?

*edit- That Fit Calculator is awesome.

I just meant you haven't ridden the bike yet.

I'm also 5'10" with a 33ish inseam/long arms and even though I prefer bigger frames myself (my Leader 722 is 58cm), a 57cm Kilo - with a top tube measuring 57.5cm - would be too big for me.

Dr.Dre 04-24-12 02:24 PM

Realfaux- those are some long legs for sure.

Scrod- I got the cranks and bb put in today and rode to school and it felt a tad large, but still smaller and whippier than the conversion that I have been riding. So you are right, probably a 55 or 56cm in the future; but, I'm not upset at all, If this was a more expensive, high end frame I would have returned it imediately and gotten something smaller, but it's a Kilo TT, and my first legitimate track frame. So, I'll ride it and beat the hell out of it, and when it's time for an upgrade, I'll get something a higher end (and smaller).
