While on a yet another website window shopping trip, I ran across this on City Grounds. SE is jumping on the Long Beach band wagon.

IMO- I'd hit that.

For what it's worth, SE Bikes began in Long Beach in 1977.

Looks pretty decent for the money. My old SE Stout was a really fun bike. People love to hate on them, but their bikes are a good value.

The Stout is an entirely different bike than the Draft.

Like just about every bike manufacturer, SE makes good bikes, bad bikes and in between bikes. The new Draft - with it's hi-ten frame and coaster brake - is just a beach cruiser that looks like a "fixie".

I used to ride SE when I did bmx, and have abused a SE Lager for a couple years now. It's not bad, it's not great, but for the price it is awesome.

It's a 270 dollar bike. The seapost and saddle on my Big Block almost cost that much.

Yes, for that price you can get a Dawes SSwhatever from BD that probably weighs a couple pounds less. Big deal.

Right, but it's got a coaster brake. Not everyone wants one of those.

Sure they are - but unless you're specifically looking for a bike equipped with one, that Draft isn't a very good deal.

The regular SE Draft has a flip/flop hub and normal caliper brakes for the same price. The SE Draft Coaster is a separate model for people specifically wanting a coaster brake. I have one with the 650c wheels. The stem and seatpost are total garbage, but the rest of the bike is OK. Just about everything on it is steel, which is why it's so heavy. If you recall, the fork on mine was defective, and I had to get it replaced.

Are there any other bikes like this with a coaster brake besides the Draft? I haven't seen any.

I think this bike looks good I would ride it for sure if I needed a cheap bike for errands, but for now i'm content with all of my bikes. I also think it would be a sweet ride to get for your chick too since it comes in 650.

coaster brake hi ten would be the ideal lockup bike in a flat city if you never had to carry anything more than a macbook air and a burrito.


but for 279 or whatever i'd rather have the windsor essex deluxe. and i bet i'd be just as fast on it.

I dunno. I think this idea of the best bike to ride while carrying a burrito is worth a closer look.
Coaster seems like it'd be good for two handed burrito eating while riding.

For a coasterbrake, I think I like the Wal-Mart Genesis 29er they have for $ 150. A nice aluminum cruiser for a Taco Bell, run for the border ?

Wait, it has a bottle opener built in? Now that's great for a burrito bike because the best places around here sell the "Real" CocaCola in glass bottles from Mexico.

I have my eyes on that bike too. Guys over at ratrodbikes love it. They say it's light and the 29er rims give you the option of running 25's on it. Plus it's a big bike which is a plus.

One day, I'm going to buy this bike and roll up to a party and open beer bottles. How many sqrls would I get? DAMN... brb ordering SE Draft.

Picked up the deluxe for my wife, it's a tank... but fun.
