Budget flip flop wheelset w/ C&V look?
Sorry if this has been touched on before, but does anyone have a recommendation for a 700c wheelset w/ flipflop hub that wouldn't look out of place on an older bike? Oh- and not too pricey, please.

Velo-Orange has a high-flange wheelset that looks like it's straight out of the 1970s. Sadly, they're out of stock right now.

If that's too expensive the box section CR18/Forumla is a pretty good deal at Velo-Mine. They have both 700c and 27" as well as a few other options.

Dude, silver Sun M13IIs. End of thread! They are hella polished and shiny, low profile box section rims. I have the black versions which are sadly not hard anodized so my brake wore down the finish on my front rim. But yeah, great classic wheels. You can pick them up for less than $150 a set at velomine.com and bicyclewheels.com too.

Question for everyone: with 23mm wide rims becoming more popular due to the tubular-style tire profile that can be achieved by using 23mm wide tires, wouldn't it be advantageous to go with the CR18 rims over the M13II rims? Hypothetically you can get that tubular-style tire profile when running 23mm tires, or you can run wider tires by going with the wider rims, making the CR18s a more flexible choice, no?

Riding tubulars, and riding on a wide rim do not feel similar at all. There is no stability riding the wide rim, there is very little room to be off to the side. But tubulars are still popular on the track exactly because they are stable on the side of the tire.

Of course, most people talking smack on A23s, H+Son TB14s, etc have never ridden them. While using wider rims may not be exactly like riding on tubular tires, I can definitely feel a difference in ride quality with 23c tires on my A23s - especially when using a tire with a stiff sidewall.
The problem is that most people using these wider rims are also using bigger tires, completely diminishing their overall intended effect.
