One of my usual ways to waste time online is to surf the fixed gear gallery. In my surfing I've run across a few really nice, no expense spared, fixies. These fixies seem to have all the best parts that I one day hope to afford. Here is one of my top picks for no expense spared fixie:
http://fixedgeargallery.com/2004/f/forsman.htm What would be your top pick be? (I'm not looking for prettiest, or most practical, etc, I'm looking for fixies that look like the owner spared no expense when they built them up.) |
Well, you wouldn't find it on FGG, but my vote would be for a Pinarello Montello with Nimble wheels, tubular tires, and Vision Tech bullhorns. Oh, and it would be painted matte black for indie effect.
|
Mine would be a custom Vanilla....with chrome lugs. HHmmmm....chrome lugs.
|
I too would go for the Pinarello, however, it would be the Prince pista!

actually, if it was a true no expense spared track bike (for track use only), i'd hook up one of those BT CF frames with campy record pista and the ghibli wheelsset, all white.

spare no expense:
pay roger enough money to make true fixie bullseyes. |
that cinelli is a crime...bikes are meant to be ridden, not to be preserved in pristine condition...unless of course the two can occur simultaneously

Last July I placed an order w/ Sacha at Vanilla for a complete fixed gear bike. I also gave him an unlimited budget. The bike will be ready in the second half of this month. It fits the description of a "spare no expenses bike", including some stuff that's never been seen before. Will post pics when arrives.
Btw, newb here and need to extend a "thank you" to a lot of you. I lurked for a year+ and borrowed a lot of helpful info from everyone's posts to help put the bike together. |
please post a pic when she is done. I need a new desktop. :)

I'll throw ya a bone: As far as I know, it'll have the world's first carbon seatpost WITH handcarved/polished lugs. Sacha is taking a normal stainless seatpost, cutting off the lower 1/2, then carving the upper half to look like a frame lug w/ long tips coming down. He will then take carbon tubing and insert it up into the carved out post making the "tube" portion of the seatpost. The two halves will be bonded just like a regular carbon seatpost's head is bonded to the tubing.

And with that, we officially hate you out of jealousy. I'm joking....no, really we do. :)
