New guy from Amsterdam
Hello I am Feraz,
I am a real Amsterdamian :p, my parents learned me to ride a bike when I was just 4. I have always riden bikes, mainly mountainbikes in the city :innocent:. Last years I went by public transport because is was free for students, now I need a bike again esspecially because gasprices are almost 2 euro for 1 litre!!! :o I got myself an old Batavus Course for 40 euro's and plan to make it fixed after my inspirational visit at this shop in my city http://www.pristinefixedgear.com/ The strange thing is that I cant find any information about my bike, like it's year of production for example I will drop some pictures along of the build, dont want it to be too beautiful yet because that attracks thiefs ;) Really hope you guys can advise me what parts to get. Cheers, Feraz |

What I hope to do with it later on http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/58fd5ef3.jpg Feraz |
If I were you I'd take the bike to your local fg boutique and tell them your budget and what you want out of the build and see if you guys can work it out. The main thing I would be concerned with is does that bike fit you perfectly to the point where you are willing to spend your money to make it suit your needs.

Thanks!
Yes I bought this bike because of its size 59, which is perfect for me. And the Reynolds 501 Tubes. As I understand, this Batavus Course was lower end quality compared to the other ones. I cant find any information but this catalogue picture from another year http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/759049a2.jpg I would like to know what you guys think of the quality and parts, like the brakes, steer, stem, wheels, hubs and cranks. And which current parts/brands are good as replacements http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/6f304c96.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/4388f12d.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/59260896.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/7346ecc6.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/3ca22c6c.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/d1b670b7.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/575dda02.jpg http://i721.photobucket.com/albums/w...w/eec9325f.jpg Feraz |

You will get more information here http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdispl...ic-amp-Vintage
A friend of mine just got a Batavus frame with Reynolds 531 tubing. I will guess that your bike is an entry level ride from the early 80s. |
Send me some bud and i'll give you a bike.
