My very unusual find: track bikes [PIC HEAVY!]

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My very unusual find: track bikes [PIC HEAVY!]

I picked these up today for a pretty awesome deal, I think.. 2 NJS-certified frames. I've never ridden a fixed gear bike before except once with my Grampa's 1960s bike when I was around 8. I thought I'd build one up with one of these and ride it around downtown Toronto.. I hope you like pictures!

First up: A Panasonic. Tange 1, seamless double butted tubes. Panasonic pantographed BB shell and dropouts. Pretty nice, but this will more likely get flipped.. NJS Dura-Ace BB, NJS Hatta headset.

And the other... A Makino! This thing is uber cool! Hatta HS and BB, Nitto Seatpost, Stem and Bar. I think I'll build this one up.

Checked to see tire clearance.. Forgive me for the ghetto frame protector. LOL

Both look like a hard choice to part with either one.

Looks like I just need a wheel set and gears. I'll see what' available in the local classifieds. Not a clue, TBH.

With 2 other bikes and a WIP Ti MTB, it gets easier. Not to mention I live in a condo.

The makino is definitely the one that made my jaw drop. Just look at that paint job.

I am so jealous right now.

The 200 bucks actually went towards hiding the bodies.

Since you got it for so cheap, how about throwing me that Panasonic for $400?

Good old local classifieds. That was his asking price. We sealed the deal by phone and he thankfully stuck to the deal despite being offered more money. That's what he said and I believed him.

What are these local classifieds you speak of? Toronto and great deal on a bike don't usually go together. People try to sell their supercycles on craigs for $200.

LOL! I almost blew my coffee! Exact opposite, actually. Toronto is a craaaazy market for bikes, specially old ones.

Talk about luck! I thought I got a good deal on my concept!

I would throw you an offer for the panasonic, but it looks like it is probably too small for me.
