Paramount Track or NOT?
I recently aquired a new track frame. It is neon yellow on one side and hot pink on the other. A PARAMOUNT sticker is located on the top tube and a bold SCHWINN sticker is located on the downtube. The frame has a small "P" sticker for a headbadge and another on the seattube. (All the stickers are under clear coat and the paint job looks very professional.) Looks straight foward. However, the frame has an English Threaded Cinelli S.C. bottom bracket with the serial number reading N6014. Did Schwinn Paramount builders / manufacturers ever use Cinelli bottom brackets? What is another way of determining if it is a real Schwinn? What should the lugs, brake bridge, and fork crown look like? The frame has a late 80s early 90s vibe. Please help. THANKS.

First off, Congrats on the new ride.
Yes, you do have a Paramount track. Sounds like early to mid 90's. I have one that is red and yes, it does have the Cinelli BB. Mine is on the fixed gallery, http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2004/aukerman10.htm. The bike now has a chrome straight blade fork (Colnago knock-off). I have seen a couple of Paramounts that match the description of yours and they were pretty cool point jobs. Definately leads a custom paint air to it all. Again, congrats on coming across the 'Mount. Post pics when you get a chance. |
I had one in the 70's when I used to race at Trexlertown........hold onto it, they are great bikes

I think I remember seeing that bike for sale. NYC?
Congrats. That's a Waterford built Paramount, you have my envy. |
someone at bicycle habitat had one for sale last summer. Similar paint to what you describe, I test rode it, but didn't buy it. Nice bike.
