I exclusively use The Chainlink for rides, but I'd love to ride with you guys if you'll have me. Though, I do have to warn you - I'm no longer on a SS/FG, so I'm sorry if that ruins it.

I would be down to ride with whomever, but I rarely ride for pleasure. the way I see it, the more I'm on the road the more likely I am to eventually get hit. So I usually only bike when I have somewhere to go/be. I'm trying to change this though. I do have a ton of fun when I'm riding, so I should probably stop denying myself that.

Do nothing to keep the sun out of your eyes? What? Do you constantly ride really early in the morning and late in the evening with the Sun constantly on the horizon? It definitely helps keep the sun out of my eyes, whether I have sunglasses on or not. Maybe if you have a super up-right position it wouldn't help much?
Reasons I wear a cycling cap: -It's cold. -It's hot and I don't want sweat in my eyes. -It's really sunny and cap + sunglasses = win. -Keeps the sun off my forehead/nose/cheeks because I am white as hell and burn easy. I use sunscreen as well, but every bit helps. -Pretty awesome to soak it in cold water during a hot ride. I did this on my Mt. Diablo repeats (10mi climb, 95*F... x 2) and it was a life saver. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...77368656_n.jpg The Rules are true. Don't wear them off-bike (unless immediately preceding or immediately following a ride - preferably with a craft beer or espresso in hand). Of course you can if you want, but I will deem you a ******bag. /velominatist |
i wear caps bcuz they make me feel cool
srsly tho i wear one every time i ride |
I haven't ever worn one. Can you skip putting sunscreen on the forhead with one? This seems like it would be worthit just to keep the stuff out of your eyes.

Misskaz, Edgewaterdude, and Jvande7:
I've done both Western and Ashland. Depending on the time of day, either one can be ok. I live up by Kaz and would love to go on a ride/picnic, though I'll skip the weed. Bad things happen when I have that ****. Kaz was around for the one time I've had it in like five years. Wasn't a good situation at all. However, since you (Jvande) mentioned somewhere that you work in an office, I have a feeling your schedule won't sync up. I'm a chef and work crazy hours. This week I'm doing 9am or noon to midnight or later, and my weekend is usually Monday and Tuesday. Edgewaterdude, any bikes are welcome. |

Usually 630a-300p or something along those lines. Just depends. As far as Western or Ashland, I wasn't saying you'll surely die if you ride on them even just one time. I know you can get away with it. I'd just rather not chance it. You can be doing everything right and be as safe as possible but if some moron is doing 40+ mph and slams you from behind because he was texting or talking on his phone or drunk or whatever - game over. Helmet or no helmet, you're f*cked. And so is your bike. |
