Replacement fork and headset for IRO Angus
 

A bunch of parts were stolen off of my IRO Angus while I was at my friends place last night. I have a lot of parts that will work for now, but I need a fork and headset. It looks like it has to be 1" threaded. Can anyone point me in the direction of something that is decent and will work? Color was black. Also, is this something a relatively handy guy who's never done it before can install himself?

IRO sells their MARK V forks online. I am sure if you contact them, they would sell you a replacement Angus fork and headset. Tell them what size frame you have and they will be able to cut and thread the fork to make installation pretty much plug and play.

Can anyone confirm that IRO is still in business? I just kind of assumed they weren't. They haven't tweeted in over a year and there is barely any stock even listed on their website.

A fork needs to be cut to the right length, right? Someone pm'd me with a good deal for one. Do the top tube lengths need to match up for it to work? How much margin for error is there? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to do this on the cheap because I don't have a lot of extra scratch right now.

Yes, the steer tube lengths need to be the same on threaded forks. Threadless forks have more of a margin as spacers can be used. The good thing is that as long as the steer tube is longer than your old fork, the threads can be threaded down further and then cut the top to suit. This can be done by your local bike shop for a small fee.

They still post stuff on facebook. They're located like an hour away from me I'm about to just go ask one day haha.

i actually successfully purchased something off iro's site not too long ago. delivery was realllly slow (close to a month) & when i emailed about it, here is what Tony had to say...

"Sorry for all the confusion and mishaps. IRO is not what it was. I work alone while working a full time job. Not an excuse just letting u know"

my order did finally arrive & its condition was fine, but as a former iro fan i am sad to say that doing business with him nowadays is not easy

there's plenty of 1" threaded forks available out there...op is likely better off buying one of those rather than trying to get an angus fork from iro

That is really upsetting. He had a great company with a great staff, his family no? I wonder what happened. :(

Upsetting indeed. I'd guess that as ssfg got more popular the big boys and newer companies took more and more of the market share. Don't know though. Bummer. Seemed like great people when I communicated with them. Sent me a free t-shirt with my bike.

Yeah. I feel like there's more to this story you know? I heard all these rumors on the internet and all. And the Facebook page was blowing up with demands.

Sorry to take this thread off-topic but does anyone have a contact email for tony at iro? Their contact us page is broken and info at irocycle dot com doesn't seem to work any longer. Neither does their old phone number published on Yelp.

I don't even know if IRO is still in business aside from occasionally selling stuff off on eBay. Their site is still up but I know quite a few people who have tried to order stuff or contact them unsuccessfully.

I don't know, man. Check eBay.

I changed my Angus to a generic threadless 1" steel fork a couple of years ago. If you need a headset anyway, it would likely be easier to go that route.
