Making a SS shopping list
Got this 72-74 Peugeot a few weeks ago, either for a friend who is interested, or an around town bar bike for me. We will see. Posted in the C&V forum to confirm it was not a valuable bike, (aren't all old white Peugeot's a PX-10?), and I got my $75 worth of SS potential out of the deal. Bike has barely 100 miles on it, pics below. Steel crank&rings, steel BB, steel stem, steel cogs, steel seatpost and steel handlebars puts it to 32lbs with rack and kickstand. My target is under 25lbs with keeping the original wheels, which I think look cool. Budget is $300 plus, not opposed to buying used and polishing myself, but this list represents the look I think I want for it. My friend will either buy it for my costs or not, I don't really care.
I am having a problem with the Mafac brake levers, they have that extra tourist bar for the flats on the drop bar - is there a replacement bolt that will allow me to take that off or am I going to have to fiddle with some washers to get rid of those? Also, since I have not taken anything apart yet, do you know if the rear cog unscrews to reveal an ordinary thread size, allowing me to get the Shimano-compatible Excess freewheel?
Thanks for looking!
Ird Defiant Track 1/8" 165 Silver Cranks
Grand Cru Bottom Bracket, French Thread VELO-ORANGE
Nitto Dirt Drop MT-10 26.0 , Rivendell 100mm extension, 22.2mm quill; 26mm clamp
Nitto Moustache Bar RM-016 26.0 clamp - Rivendell
Kalloy 25.4 x 350mm Silver Seatpost (ST1554) (unless VO steps up with something?)
Excess 22 tooth Freewheels FW123
SRAM PC 7X Bicycle Chain
And some Brooks / or clone seat
