prayer cog
i just went down to condor cycles in my lunch break today to pick up a cog and score some information about what parts they have. on the way back i popped the cog out of the bag and held it with my first two fingers through the cog and my thumb on the teeth, i then pushed it roungd tooth by tooth as i walked along. i think it was just the exitement of a new part for my project that made me play with it on the way back but then i got to thinking..... what about instead of prayer beads and rosaries (sp) people used cogs to cycle through their prayers, or bicycle riders could use them for their own prayers/mantras like 'i hope i don't go down today' etc. its silly but today i'm feeling silly and stupid and bored.

It's more normal to use a chain for this.... :)
I found Condor Cycles for the first time at the weekend - what a great store. It was most pleaseing to find a set of Dura Ace SPD-R pedals in the second-hand bin for £25. This is the finishing touch for my new bike project. Cheers, Ed |
yeah that sale basket was pretty sweet. they had another pair for £60 ish that came off a display bike. too much for me at the moment

The bike equivalent of a Bhuddist prayer wheel? Neat idea. "om mane padme hom" is seventeen characters including spaces, so if you bought a 17t sprocket, you could write one character on each tooth and reach enlightenment as you ride!

when i went to college in eugene, oregon, i worked at a bar and a market. there was this guy who called himself the "fidget guy" who made these gadgets out of three links of chain and a keyring. i'll try and find one to post a picture. he was always bringing in new designs to trade me for packs of smokes at the store. anyone know if he's still around the campus area?

My friend had the idea of making prayer wheel hubcaps.
