Anybody own a Nitto UI-21EX stem?

This might be a long shot, but does anyone know the torque specs for a Nitto UI-21EX stem?

Or know anyone who knows anyone who might know? Googleth and Yahoo are proving fruitless.

Thanks.

I have but I never bothered using a torque wrench tbh, the only situation where I would use a torque wrench is if I was going to put a carbon handlebar wich requires much more attention.

I just take my time and twist each bolt 1/4 at a time and try to torque each one equally.

That's what I will end up doing if I can't find specs. But the problem is knowing when to stop twisting. And I invested in my torque wrench for a reason.

Thomsons are something like 7-9 nm if I remember correctly, but I have both a paper manual and an online manual for those, they're everywhere. Kinda surprising about the lack of info on the Nitto. Do you remember if yours came with a manual? The previous owner of mine doesn't have anything.

I'm gonna have my wife (who is Japanese) contact some sellers in Japan and see if they have anything.

I tried looking for contact info for Nitto bike related stuff, although I'll admit I didn't try too hard.

Might be worth it, but it could get messy. I figure a good majority of people in SSFG are using the same parts though, Thomson, CK, and so on.

There maybe 7 people in this forum who own a torque wrench.

I think alot of people would be surprised how little torque is required for a component to hold. Overtightening is much more an issue than undertightening. Once you start to feel resistance, you are most likely tight enough.

Just do somewhere between 4Nm - 5Nm. Nitto will probably tell you 5Nm.

Thomson stems x4 are 5.1Nm for steerer tube, and 4Nm for handlebar. Oddly, the instructions that came with my x4 have a different toque listing. The elites are 5.5Nm for both steerer and handlebars according to the manual. 7-9Nm is a lot for a stem.

Biggest screw up with stems is not making sure there is equal space top and bottom when tightening. Just double check that and you will be fine with 4-5.
