Good fixed gear frames under $400?

What're some good fixed gear frames under $400?
I want something that looks nice, is good quality, and has more aggressive geometry than my Unknown LV2 frame.
Thanks

What type of riding are you planning on doing? What material do you want? Gotta give us more information if you want realistic recommendations.

Yeah I think you can make most frames into fixed gear. Mtn bike, BMX, etc.

I'll be riding on the road on it all the time and for material, I'd mostly like want aluminum. But I'll take steel if the frame is nice enough.

There is the Leader 725, but I doubt it'll be much different from your current frame. For that price range, I'd honestly probably grab an All City Big Block Frameset, but it's not going to be more aggressive. There's also the Pake French 75 Frameset, which will be available in matte black shortly.

Why are you looking to upgrade?

Jaytron 07-13-12 10:18 AM

You should post a picture of your current bike so we have an idea on where to go with this.

Thanks but I'm looking for a more track type frame, not like the Big Block or the Pake.

Honestly, I want to upgrade because I don't like the geometry of the LV2 or the look that much. As of now I'm thinking of getting like a silver Leader 722 or an IRO Mark V Pro

I don't think you really know what you're looking for. You said you want more aggressive geometry, but neither the Leader 722, nor the IRO Mark V Pro will provide that. Not saying they not good frame, and I'd recommend a 722 to anybody, but not if you're looking for aggressive.

You're right I only thought of the 722 and the Mark V Pro because I liked the look more and I thought the geometry would be a bit better than my LV2.

ddeadserious 07-13-12 11:12 AM

I can't find a geo chart for the LV2 frame, but the 722 just has more of a road-like, relaxed geometry(compared to other track bikes).

It's a great bike, and if you're just looking for something different than what you have, I think you'd enjoy it.

prooftheory 07-13-12 11:16 AM

It seems surprising that the unknown doesn't have an aggressive geometry. Do you know what the angles on the head tube and seat tube are?

Robofunc 07-13-12 11:24 AM

I think by "aggressive geometry" he means "tighter clearances."

ddeadserious 07-13-12 11:31 AM

The Unknown frame has a 74° head tube angle.

prooftheory 07-13-12 11:41 AM

Seems pretty darned aggressive to me. But there is a lot of clearance. I thought it was just the njs fanboys who cared about clearances.

To your credit, it looks a lot better than the bike you started here with man, good job.

I'd stay with that v2 tbh.

Which both have track geo, so I guess you're not looking for a more "track-type" anything.

You aren't going to find anything in the 400 range that much better than your Unkown, if you really want an upgrade just save up some more.

markaitch 07-13-12 01:49 PM

slam that rear wheel allaway up into the cutout & that bike will ride so much more "aggressive"

you sure you don't want to post more pics?

save up and get a felt tk3; dunno how it rides, but the one in the LBS looks extremely track-y.

also looks like a PITA on the road, but....
