my LBS called me yesterday and told me my wheel is done, i was so happy that i just rode home during work, drove to the shop picked up the wheel and put it on, surprisingly the wheel seems to holds up pretty good i can even do whip skid here and there, i wonder how long it will last me til it untrue

well just want to share some happiness

P.S. during the test ride last night i heard some rattling, and its from my new omnium crank anyone have that kind of problem with their sram omnium?

Wow, those wheels really pop on that bike. As for the rattling, how much slack do you have on your chain now? I notice that everything is louder on this bike for me than anything else I have ridden. It is like a soundbox so if I have a bit of slack I can hear it rattle pretty loud.

Only when I go 65+ mph.

timechaser 07-19-12 03:27 PM

i dont have much slack, cause when i put it on i tension it with a bmx chain tension, the chain was good, its from the left side of the crank arm i can even wriggle it a little, but the arm its tight the wriggle is from the space between the bottom bracket and the "center round tube" of the crankset

But, but those wheels belong on a roadie...
Time for me to sell my set and finally go low profile.

timechaser 07-19-12 03:33 PM

Nice!

Take off that brake and those egg beaters, add some quality road pedals, and head on over to the Lehigh Valley Velodrome!

When Omniums are brand new you'll definitely hear some noise until the chainring wears in a little, especially if your chain is really tight.

FWIW - it looks really tight in the pic.

timechaser 07-19-12 03:47 PM

i want to, i have everything setup but my work is just keeps holding me back, especially when i just got a new born on the 3th, this bike is my daily that's why its has brakes and eggbeater, i have another fuji track pro in black that's mainly for track, that was the one i build for this year's track time but it just never happened

Good lord that's your daily.

timechaser 07-19-12 03:54 PM

i understand that but problem is that the noise was came from between the bottom bracket and the spline, i can even wriggle the left crank arm a little, but the crank arm is tight with the spline, it feels like there's space between the bb and the spline which cost rattling on un-smooth pavement road

ddeadserious 07-19-12 04:00 PM

That happens when it's not tight enough. Have you taken it apart recently?

yummygooey 07-19-12 04:03 PM

Are you missing a bearing seal or something? There should not be wiggle.

Also, Omniums are not ISIS splined.

timechaser 07-19-12 04:08 PM

i did put on the bearing seal, sorry i was looking for the word "Spline" and after i copied forgot to take out the "isis" lol :p

It says right on the GXP installation instruction sheet that if you experience any play after installing the crank at the recommended torque that you should remove, regrease and reinstall it until the play goes away. The self-extracting bolt on the NDS side often needs to be broken in before it will seat properly.

Do not ride it with play in the BB/crank.

timechaser 07-19-12 04:22 PM

Thanks!! will redo the crank tonight

After reinstalling multiple times mine still have play so I gave up and have been riding them like this since September no problemo.

FakeFuji 07-19-12 06:16 PM

I think omnibus are beautiful cranks but it seems like everyother post about them has an issue, nice looking bike but it deserves the track!

FKMTB07 07-19-12 07:38 PM

Gotta lose that QR front skewer before hitting the track too.

Nice bike.
