29 inches of fixed gear love
Figured it was about time I posted a picture of my recent build. 29er Kelly MTB. Got ahold of my fixed cog last weekend just in time for riding the snowy trails. Sure it makes the technical stuff tricky, but the traction can't be beat. For the curious, it's got a 52 inch gear, same as a 2:1 on a 26 inch bike.

Nice looking bike. How do you like the one disc brake setup? I am thinking of doing this on my commuter/family bike because I tow my son on his trailerbike and it is hilly here. Not being able to stop is a BAD thing.

I've been running the disc front/V-brake rear combo for a couple of years on my Surly. Works great. 70%+ stopping power is in the front brake, so you get big benefits for half the cost of a full disc set up. Plus, I like to run fixed/free hubs in the rear of my mountain bikes. The only time I have felt a need for the rear disc was in icy conditions (below freezing + lots of streams around here = iced rims), but that's solved by running fixed.
