New to Singlespeeds!

What are some good single or triple speed bikes you've ridden before? I want to go fast and don't have to worry about any hills or anything, but it will be out in public so I do want brakes (not a velodrome or whatever that's called).

Thanks
Beni

Beni, use the search function.

I ride an SE Lager and love it. However, as Jaytron said, there is a search function to this forum and if you used it, you'd find dozens of threads exactly like this one.

entry level bikes are all this forum.

are you wanting to ride the bike on a track/velodrome something to take into account.

This is extremely informative. We all thank you for your contribution.

Swiiiing and a miss.

entry level forums are all these bikes.

Follow up questions to the OP:

1. You say you want to go fast - how fast do you want to go? And do you measure speed in miles or kilometers?
2. You do not have to worry about hills or anything - What sort of "anythings" do you not have to worry about? Or are you just talking about up hills, down hills, and any of those kinds of things?

Since you are asking about single and triple speeds I assume you do not want to know about two-speed kick backs like the KB2 or the S2C.

Raleigh Sports. With stock rims, almost like not having brakes when you ride 'em in the rain, though.

So, you want a bike, of some sort, that you'll ride outdoors, in a perfectly smooth and level environment that is not a velodrome, and you will not be riding in private at home. That about right?

Sounds like you need that brand of bike with the wheels..and the saddle...and..umm...pedals? Whatever that's called...

Kilo TT.

You missed one requirement - he wants to go fast.

I wasn't sure if I wanted a ss/fixed gear bike. So I looked at Craigslist. I saw a Specialized Langster that EVERYONE hates, the Gangster edition....being the fact that I am from Chicago AND the guy REALLY wanted to get rid of it, he gave me a killer deal plus I like riding bikes that makes others angry.

After riding it for a few months, I love it. I love the bull horns MUCH more than the drops on my road bike. So, IMO, check Craigslist and buy a ss/fixie CHEAP! If after a few months you find out that you hate it, you haven't lost a lot of money. If you find that you REALLY like it, build your own :thumb:
