erhhm flip-flop freewheels?

I'm wondering if I can take off my fixed cog and throw on another free-wheel. (if I can get off my fixed cog) I can't whip it off! It's basically seized on there!

Thanks fellas!

Yes. You can install a freewheel on fixed threading without any issues.

With this technique it is possible to apply a tightening torque much greater than that available using a chain whip: the force is applied at a distance which coincides with the radius of the wheel instead of the much smaller radius of the sprocket, greatly increasing the leverage. The lock ring is now unnecessary.
Uhhhh, I wouldn't ride my bike without a lock ring no matter how tight I put it on.

What if it was a total chick magnet?

Well then yeah, of course. Who wouldn't

Jaytron 08-14-12 11:58 AM

Brb, removing my lockrings so I may drown in sqrls.

Retem 08-14-12 05:11 PM

cog threads= freewheel threads
put a little electric tape over the lockring threads so you don't bang em up when you install the freewheel

With all this being said, I can't find a 13t free-wheel. Maybe I'll just use a 1t! =D

Bat56 08-14-12 07:27 PM

Of course you can't find one.

Scrodzilla 08-14-12 07:39 PM

Last I heard, Jesus had all the 13t freewheels dangling from his unicorn's horn.

Bat56 08-14-12 07:51 PM

The moderator in the sky is going to ban you.

I'm new to cycling cut me some slack! What set up do you guys use to haul ass on the flats?

Scrodzilla 08-15-12 05:56 PM

How many threads about gear ratios do you need?

How much ass do you want to haul?

When I'm hauling my own ass I like 48-16. If I'm hauling my kid's six year old ass I'm more like 42-16.

Get yerself a chain tool, a freewheel tool, and a fistful of old freewheels. Buy them used for five bucks. Soak them in oil. Figure it out.
